OUR STORY

2DSC_0551-2.jpg

I am from Nebo, North Carolina and was saved on Thanksgiving Day when I was six years old. God blessed me with a godly family, and allowed me to attend the U.S. Naval Academy. While at the Academy, I met Jen. Jen is from Edgewater, Maryland. Her parents were saved when she was two and began following God as a family. Jen was saved when she was nine years old. We have been happily married for more than twenty years. We have two children, Isaiah and Abigail (Abbey). Both are currently in college following God’s will for their lives. We are sent out of Heritage Baptist Church in Woodbridge, Virginia.

After graduating from the Academy, I served two tours in the Marine Corps. During my time, God first called me to preach, and then lead us to consider missions. God used other missionaries, missions conferences, and sound, biblical preaching to show us the importance of missions and the great need around the world. We surrendered to serve Him as missionaries, and He then directed our hearts to Spain. Spain is sometimes called the “Graveyard of missionaries.” It is a predominately Catholic nation, but has never experienced revival nor the Reformation. There were more Baptist churches in my home county than the entire country of Spain! This had a major impact on us, and God used this to clarify His leading. We joined BIMI in 2012 and prepared for the move to Spain.

When we arrived in Spain in 2015, we teamed with Justin and Grace Hayes, who are BIMI missionaries also sent from Heritage Baptist Church. Together, we planted Iglesia Bautista El Olivar (Olive Grove Baptist Church) in Dos Hermanas. As we served with Justin and Grace in Dos Hermanas, God impressed upon our hearts the great need in other cities and entire provinces of Spain, which lack a clear Gospel witness. In 2018, we began visiting different cities where there was no Baptist church. Later that year, God lead us to the city of Jaén.

We moved to Jaén in January of 2019, and in 2021 we planted Iglesia Bautista de la Gracia. If the Lord permits, we hope to see this and many other churches planted in Spain in the coming years.
